Answer:

I am so happy today. I was worried that I will have to pay a huge amount for my treatment. But when I got the bill it was written there “Paid in full with one glass of milk”. It was signed by Dr. Howard Kelly, the specialist who treated me and cured me. I thought about the meaning of those words. And suddenly I remembered everything. Long ago a poor boy who sold things from door to door came to my house and asked me for some water. When I saw the boy I knew he was tired and hungry. So, instead of giving him some water I gave him a large glass of milk. He drank it and then asked me how much he should pay. I told him there was no need to pay anything. I had forgotten all this as it happened long ago. But now I know the boy to whom I had given that glass milk is Dr. Howard Kelly. He is a good man and a man of gratitude. He remembered my kindness to him and he repaid it with such great generosity. Thank God, we still have such good people in this world.

Dear Mrs. Smith,
First of all, let me wish you many, many happy returns of the day! You are now 70! May God bless you with many more years to live on this earth so that you can continue doing good things to others.
I take it as a privilege that I got the chance to treat you and cure you. The moment I saw you, I knew it was the lady who had given me a glass of milk when I asked for some water.
In fact I had come to your house to ask for a meal because I was so hungry and tired, but ‘ when you opened the door I lost my nerve and that was why I asked for some water. But your good heart could see my hunger and that • was why you gave me a large glass of milk. I thank you for that! It is people like you who kept me going and helped me to become a doctor.
Once again I thank you and wish you many, many happy returns of the day!
Dr. Howard Kelly

Write the Merchant’s thoughts.
Answer:
I thought I was smart and I could cheat everyone. Yesterday when the farmer brought his loaded wagon with grains I had asked him how much for “everything”. We made a deal for 20 copper coins. I gave him 20 copper coins and took “everything”, which included the grain, the wagon and the horse which was tied to the wagon. The poor farmer fell for my trick. But today this girl fooled me. She brought watermelons and she offered them to me for “everything” in my hand. I had only a few coins in my hand and so I was happy. The deal was made. When I paid her the coins she wanted the three rings I had on my fingers. I knew I was outsmarted. But then she returned my rings and told me that her father had taught her not to cheat anybody as I had done to her father. I felt ashamed. I have taken a decision not to cheat people. That girl, Carla, taught me the biggest lesson of my life.
