And some are big and some are small,

Activity – II

Don’t you remember Raja? One day his uncle takes him to a beach. He enjoys beautiful scenes there. Some children are playing football, some others are flying kites, picking shells and starfish…
Write down a description of the beach.
Answer:
On a beach we find different enjoyable scenes, especially in the afternoons. People come to the beach to spend their time in a joyful manner. There are children playing football. Some children are flying kites. Some are picking shells and starfish. Boys and girls are running up and down in the sandy beach. Some children are making sand
castles. There are different people selling different things. Some are selling balloons, some ice cream, some fried groundnuts. Even grownups are enjoying ice creams and groundnuts. There is some special joy when eating things in the beach, watching the waves lashing against the store. There is a singer singing the latest Hindi films songs. He has kept a collection plate in front of him. Some people put some money into that plate. A beach is a good place to relax and enjoy.

Activity – III

Raja is missing. The news spreads. A news reporter reaches the spot. He approaches a neighbour and enquires about Raja.
Imagine the likely conversation between the news reporter and the neighbour.
News reporter : Can you tell me the name of that missing boy?
Neighbour : __________________________________
Complete the conversation.
Answer:
News reporter : Can you tell me the name of that missing boy? Neighbour : His name is Raja.
News reporter ; Why has he gone away from the house?
Neighbour : He is afraid his grandfather would scold him and beat him.
News reporter : Why should his grandfather scold him and beat him?
Neighbour : They were in the garden.
The grandfather was standing and picking jasmine flowers under the sandalwood tree. The leaves of the tree were full of raindrops as it had rained earlier. Raja shook the tree and the Grandfather became completely wet. He looked at Raja angrily and so Raja ran. He was about to catch Raja when he fell. Raj a ran and hid himself in the paddy fields. He heard the shouts of Grandfather telling him he would beat him.
News reporter : Then what happened?
Neighbour : Raj a is not seen anywhere.
His grand mother is crying. Some- one said he might drown himself or would get into some train and go away. Such stories make the grandmother worried. The grandfather himself is feeling sorry and he is praying God to help him find the missing Raja. We all are praying for that.
News reporter : I will give the news in our Newspaper and request Raja to return home as the Grandfather has promised not to be angry with him.

Activity IV – Greeting Card

Onam is the festival of love and togetherness. People share their happiness in many ways. They exchange gifts and greeting.
As a part of onam celebrations, your school has decided to conduct a competition on making greeting cards.

Activity V – Thoughts

Cinderella’s evil time started when the stepmother and the stepsisters came to her house. She was made to do all the heavy works from morning to night – get up early in the morning, draw water, make the fire, cook and wash…. in the evening she was quite tired after the day’s hard work, She couldn’t sleep, many thoughts came to her mind.
Write the thoughts of Cinderella.
Answer:
Oh God! Why am I so unlucky? When my mother was alive I lived like a princess. I enjoyed my life to the maximum. My mother loved me so much. But then she died leaving me alone to suffer. My stepmother and her two daughters are very cruel. They make me work all day. I am always in the kitchen doing ail kinds of cooking, cleaning and washing. I have to sleep near the hearth among cinders.

I am always dusty and dirty. No wonder they call me Cinderella. God, why this cruel fate for me? How lucky my sisters are there. They are going to the ball. If my mother were alive, she would definitely take me to the ball. God, why did you take my mother away from me so soon? I also want to go for the ball. But I have only these rags. God, please help me. I know you are kind and listen to those who . ” pray to you. Show me your mercy and let me attend the ball.
