(b) 2 ÷ (-4)
(c) -3 + 12 =
Answer:
(a) (-3) × (-7) = 21
(b) 2 ÷ (-4) = 2 × \(\frac{-1}{4}=\frac{-2}{4}=\frac{-1}{2}\)
(c) -3 + 12 = 12 – 3 = 9
Question 8.
Draw a rhombus of sides 6 cm and area 18 square centimetres.
Answer:

Question 9.
The sum of angles of a polygon is 6300°. How many sides does it have?
Answer:
Sum of inner angles of a polygon = (n – 2) 180°
∴ (n – 2) 180° = 6300°
∴ n – 2 = \(\frac{6300}{180}\) = 35
∴ n = 35 + 2 = 37
Question 10.
If \(\frac{3}{5}\) of a number is 4 more than \(\frac{1}{5}\) of the number, then what is the number?
Answer:
\(\frac{3}{5} \times \frac{1}{5}\) x + 4
\(\frac{2}{5}\)x = 4
x = 4 x \(\frac{5}{2}=\frac{20}{2}\) = 10
Question 11.
Kiran deposited 15000 rupees in a bank which pays interest compound quarterly. The annual rate of interest compounded quarterly. The annual rate of interest is 6%. How much would he get back after 9 months?
Answer:
15000(1 + \(\frac{1.5}{100}\))3
= 15000 × \(\frac{101.5}{100} \times \frac{101.5}{100}\)
= Rs. 15685.18
Question 12.
(a) x² – y² = (x + y)(____)
(b) 75² – 25² = 100 × ____
(c) 105² – 100² = ____
Answer:
(a) x² – y² = (x + y)(x – y)
(b) 75² – 25² = 100 × 50
(c) 105² – 100² = 205 × 5 = 1025

Answer:

(b) How many students scored more than 30?
Answer:
7 + 6 = 13
(c) In which class more students lie?
Answer:
20 – 30
Question 16.
Find the area of the parallelogram in the figure.

Answer:

Area of ∆ABF = \(\frac{1}{2}\) × 6 × 3 = 9 cm²
AB = \(\sqrt{6^2+3^2}\)
= \(\sqrt{36+9}=\sqrt{45}\)
\(\frac{1}{2}\) × AB × h = 9
\(\frac{1}{2}\) × \(\sqrt{45}\) × h = 9
h = \(\frac{9 \times 2}{\sqrt{45}}=\frac{18}{\sqrt{45}}\)
Area of ABCD = \(\sqrt{45} \times \frac{18}{\sqrt{45}}\) =18 cm²
[or Area of Parallelogram ABCD = Area of the rectangle = 6 × 3 = 18]

Question 18.
In the figure the four comers of the quadrilateral ABCD is on the circle. Such quadrilaterals are known as cyclic quadrilaterials. The opposite angles of such quadrilaterals are supplimentary. That means in the figure ∠A + ∠C = 180°. Now answer the following.

(a) ∠A = 110° then ∠C = ____
(b) ∠PBC = 90° then ∠D = ____
(c) Which is the cyclic quadrilateral given below. (Trapezium, Parallelogram, Rhombus, Rectangle)
(d) If ∠PBC = x° then ∠D = ____
Answer:
(a) ∠C = 180 – 110 = 70°
(b) ∠PBC = 90° ∴ ∠ABC = 90°
∴ ∠D = 180 – 90 = 90°
(c) Rectangle
(d) ∠PBC = x°, ∠ABC = 180 – x°
∴ ∠D = x°
