Explain the impact of the flood that occurred in Kerala during 2018.

The flood of 2018 was a severe blow to all sectors in Kerala. From 2018 May to 2019 January 513 people lost their life. Landslides were reported from 381 places in Idukki and Wayanad. The flood affected 10.80 lakh farmers directly. Crops over 236650 hectares was destructed. 51194 hectare of agricultural land was filled with garbage and other wastes brought down by floods. Domestic animals such as cows, buffaloes, calves, dogs, hens, as well as numerous other living beings lost their life. Due to flood 16107 houses were fully damaged and 246303 houses were partially damaged during the flood season. It affected the transport systems as roads were washed away. People lost their fixed properties also.
