When this man was a small boy he came to me every day. We were close friends. He would collect my
leaves and make them into a crown and play “King of the Forest”. He would climb up my trunk and swing on my branches. He would pluck my fruits and eat them. Then he grew into a man. He had no time to play with me. He said he needed a house. I told him to cut off my branches and build his house. He did not come to me for a long time after that. Then he came and said he wanted a boat to travel far away. I told him to cut my trunk and make the boat. He cut my trunk and made the boat and sailed away. He did not show up for a very long time. And then he came and said to me that he was very tired and he wanted a quiet place to sit down. I told him to come and sit on my stump as that was all I had now. He sat down and smiled. The Talkative Tortoise

Two cranes and a tortoise lived near a lake. That year there was no rain and so the lake was drying up. As the cranes could not get enough food from the lake, they decided to go to another place to live. The tortoise was sorry to hear that as the cranes were his close friends. The cranes told him they would take him with them. He should hang on a stick by holding it in his mouth. They would fly each one holding one end of the stick in its beak. He should not open his mouth. A group of children saw this funny sight. They started shouting and laughing at the tortoise hanging in the middle of the stick. The tortoise became angry. He opened its mouth to abuse the children. He fell down and died.

The moral of the story: You should listen to good advice and not be controlled by vanity and pride.
