One day Bill invited his friend, Meg, to visit his Grandad’s farm. Bill told him that Grandad needed help on his farm. The kids went to the farm. Grandad gave the kids some job to do. He asked them to peel the ears of corn and then help him sow the seeds. The kids were very happy to do the work.
Later Grandad told them to help him feed the animals if they were not tired. They said they were not tired and they were ready to help. They fed the sheep and the geese. Grandad had all kinds of animals on the farm. The kids went with the Grandad to collect hay for the cows. Then Grandad said he also had a collection of bees. They need not feed the bees but they should not disturb them.
But the kids went near the bees secretly. Grandad did not notice it. Bill stepped on a log and peeped into the hive and said they were sleeping. But the bees were not actually sleeping. Bill fell off the log. The bees were disturbed and they flew after Bill and Meg. The kids ran fast. But the bees flew faster. They came near the kids. Then the kids saw a stream. Bill asked Meg to jump into it and they both jumped into the stream.
The bees flew back to their hive. The stream was not deep. It saved the kids from the angry bees. Grandad helped the kids to get out of the stream. Grandad then told the kids that they could feed the animals and help them but not to disturb them. The kids apologized. They were wet but they were happy.

ഒരു ദിവസം ബിൽ തന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാരിയായ മെഗിനെ തന്റെ അപ്പൂപ്പന്റെ കൃഷിസ്ഥലത്തേക്കു ക്ഷണിച്ചു. അപ്പൂപ്പന് സഹായം വേണമായിരുന്നു. കുട്ടികൾ കൃഷി സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു പോയി. അപ്പൂപ്പൻ അവർക്ക് ചില ജോലികൾ കൊടുത്തു ചോളത്തിന്റെ കവർ മാറ്റി വിത്തുകൾ വിതക്കാൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ സഹായിക്കാൻ അവരോട് പറഞ്ഞു.
പിന്നീട് അവർക്ക് ക്ഷീണമില്ലെങ്കിൽ അവിടെയുള്ള മൃഗങ്ങൾക്ക് തീറ്റ കൊടുക്കാൻ തന്നെ സഹായി ക്കാൻ അദ്ദേഹം കുട്ടികളോട് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു. തങ്ങൾ ക്ഷീണിതരല്ല എന്നും തീറ്റകൊടുക്കാൻ റെഡിയാ ണെന്നും അവർ പറഞ്ഞു. ആദ്യം അവർ ആടുകൾക്കും പാത്തകൾക്കും തീറ്റ കൊടുത്തു. അപ്പൂപ്പന് എല്ലാ വിധത്തിലുള്ള മൃഗങ്ങളും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. കുട്ടികൾ അപ്പൂപ്പന്റെ കൂടെ പശുക്കൾക്ക് കൊടുക്കാ നുള്ള വൈക്കോൽ കൊണ്ടുവരാൻ പോയി. അപ്പോൾ അപ്പൂപ്പൻ പറഞ്ഞു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കൃഷിയിടത്ത് തേനീച്ചകളുടെ ഒരു ശേഖരം ഉണ്ടെന്ന്. അവർ തേനീച്ചകൾക്ക് തീറ്റകൊടുക്കേണ്ട, പക്ഷേ അവയെ ശല്യം ചെയ്യരുത്.
പക്ഷേ ആ കുട്ടികൾ അപ്പൂപ്പനറിയാതെ തേനീച്ചകളുടെ അടുത്തേക്കു പോയി. ഒരു തടിക്കഷണത്തിൽ കയറിനിന്നുകൊണ്ട് ബിൽ തേനീച്ച കൂട്ടിലേക്ക് ഉളിഞ്ഞു നോക്കി. അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു. തേനീച്ചകൾ ഉറങ്ങു കയാണെന്ന്. പക്ഷേ തേനീച്ചകൾ ഉറങ്ങുകയായിരുന്നില്ല. ബിൽ തടിക്കഷണത്തിൽ നിന്നും താഴേക്കു വീണു. തേനീച്ചകൾ പരിഭ്രമിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ബില്ലിന്റേയും മെഗിന്റേയും പുറകേ പാഞ്ഞു. കുട്ടികൾ വേഗ ത്തിൽ ഓടിയെങ്കിലും തേനീച്ചകൾ സ്പീഡിൽ പറന്ന് അവർക്കടുത്തെത്തി. കുട്ടികൾ ഒരു ചെറിയ നദി കണ്ടു. ബിൽ മെഗിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു അതിലേക്കു ചാടാൻ. അവർ രണ്ടുപേരും അതിലേക്കു ചാടി.
തേനീച്ചകൾ അവയുടെ കൂട്ടിലേക്ക് തിരികെ പോയി. നദിയിൽ വെള്ളം കുറവായിരുന്നു. പക്ഷേ അത് കുട്ടികളെ തേനീച്ചകളുടെ കുത്തിൽ നിന്നും രക്ഷിച്ചു. അപ്പൂപ്പന്റെ സഹായത്തോടെ കുട്ടികൾ നദിയിൽ നിന്നും കരക്കുകയറി. അപ്പൂപ്പൻ അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു, അവർക്ക് മൃഗങ്ങൾക്ക് തീറ്റ കൊടുക്കാം. പക്ഷേ അവയെ ശല്യം ചെയ്യരുതെന്ന്. കുട്ടികൾ മാപ്പു പറഞ്ഞു. അവർ നനഞ്ഞിരുന്നു, പക്ഷേ സന്തുഷ്ടരായി രുന്നു.
