Answer:
Before the drought, in Rebecca’s farm there were cattle, sheep, ducks and hens. After the drought we don’t see any of these in her farm. We can see a couple of trees. Before the drought we see a huge tree with ripe fruits and a happy squirrel sitting on one of its branches. We can also see another tree with leaves, although it has no fruit. But after the drought we see these trees without a even single leaf. Maybe they are dead. Before the drought we see lovely flowers adding beauty to the farm. But after the drought there is no flower and no greenery at all. It all looks desolate, like a desert. A drought can play havoc in the life of people, animals, plants and nature itself.

Rebecca the Changemaker Activities Notes Class 5 English Kerala Syllabus 5
Answer:
Respected Headmaster, teachers and my dear friends,
Good Morning to all of you!
The Nature Club of our school has decided to conduct a short film festival on climate change. As you all know the climate is changing rapidly. Sometimes there is too much rain as we saw in 2018 when there was such a huge flood in Kerala. Sometimes there is less rain and there is drought. Monsoons do not come and go in time upsetting all the calculations of farmers. The climate change is caused because of many reasons. The cars, buses and planes pollute the air.

Trees are cut down to construct buildings. Large amounts of garbage are buried underground. All these harm nature. We have to do something to save our earth and put a stop to this dangerous climate change. The films shown during this festival will tell more about the causes, the effects and the remedies for climate change.

The Festival will be inaugurated by our Guest – the Leader of the Maasai Community, Tembea. The festival will take place in the school auditorium between 10 am to 1 pm on 20 November 2024. I welcome you to the festival and request your whole-hearted support for its grand success.

Answer:
The planned activities for the World Environment Day by the Eco Club of Crescent Public School, Chalakudy were inaugurated in the school by the Ward Member. In his inaugural address to the rally the Ward Member explained how we are harming nature and causing the terrible climate change. He talked about the floods that ravaged Kerala in 2018 and the terrible hot days that the people of Kerala experienced in the Month of April and May, 2024, before the summer rains came by the middle of May. Cars, buses and planes pollute the air. Trees are cut down to construct buildings. Large amounts of garbage are buried underground. All these harm nature. So we have to do some things to protect nature. He said that the very first thing we should do is planting trees wherever possible. We should stop mindless industrialization and urbanization in the name of development.

After the rally, the students planted different kinds of saplings on the school premises. They also distributed saplings to all the students in the school so that they could plant them in their compounds. The students took a pledge not to do anything that will harm nature and to do all they could to conserve water, and to keep the rivers, land and air free from pollution. The World Environment Day reminded everyone that we have only one habitat and we should not destroy it because of our greed.

Hello children, how are you? I am an apple tree in Rebecca’s garden. Have you got enough rain this year? I think the answer is “NO’. What may be the reason? People are cutting us down. We help in bringing rain. We give you fruits, flowers and fresh air. So don’t cut us down. I can stand like an umbrella to protect you from the hot sun. If you plant more saplings, I shall give you lots of apples. When we plant a sapling, we are planting hope.
