Answer:
He might wish to visit the city of his father’s origin. He wishes so because he likes his father so much and he hopes his father is still alive and well. He knows how much his father struggled to keep him happy as a boy. He used to give him good food and good toys when he was able to do so. And then suddenly things became bad in the country. As they belonged to a minority group, the people in authority did not like them. Thus his father lost his job and for many days he could find no work. He could not even get food for his son. He knew that the only way to keep his son alive was to take him to an orphanage.
On a rainy day, with a lot of sadness in his heart, the father takes Joseph to an orphanage. His father had a yellow umbrella. As it was raining, the father protected Joseph under the yellow umbrella. When they reached the orphanage, Joseph was handed over to the authorities in the orphanage and the father went back to his home. Joseph remembers seeing his father walking away in the rain, raindrops bouncing off his yellow umbrella. This picture was deeply etched in Joseph’s mind. That is why he loves a yellow umbrella above any other gift.
Let us hope and pray that Joseph will be able to go back to the city of his father and he will find his father still alive. What a reunion it would be!

Answer:
…….. I remember you walking away from the orphanage with raindrops bouncing off your yellow umbrella. I stood in front of the orphanage and looked until you completely disappeared from my sight. I was really sad. The authorities at the orphanage tried to console me by saying that you would be coming back to take me with you when thing get better in our city. It has been six months now. I have no news about you or the mother. Every day I hear bad news from my friends here saying there was shooting in such and such a place and some people were killed. When I hear such news I get worried. I pray God to keep you and mom safe.
How is mom? I miss her so much. I remember the delicious food she used to make. The food we get in the orphanage is not tasty. But I have to eat it to survive. There are so many rules which we have to obey. There is one man here who is very strict and he is in-charge of the discipline here. He often beats us and abuses us. Dad, I am really fed up with the life here. Please come and take me away from this hell.
I continue praying for your and mom’s health and happiness. I hope you will soon come and take me with you.
Love,
Joseph

A few hints are given below.
Answer:
HARDSHIPS FACED BY CHILD REFUGEES
It is a pity that even in the modern world we have so many child refugees who spend their lives unhappily in refugee camps. These children become unwanted in their own country because of reasons ranging from race, religion, region, or language. Children are supposed to enjoy a carefree, happy life. They are supposed to be at school learning and playing with their friends. But life in the refugee camp is terrible for the children. They lack proper shelter. Refugee camps are often crowded and noisy places. The food given there is of low quality. Children are not given proper medical care. There are no learning facilities and facilities for various games and sports. At home they were like free birds, doing the things they liked, enjoying the fun and frolic of life. But here they are like caged birds and animals and they have no freedom at all.
They are subject so many harsh rules. They were severely punished if they do not follow the rules. They do not get the love and affection they get at home. No parents and no siblings to love them and show them any affection. For these children life becomes a burden and they develop negative thinking. Let us hope and pray a day will come when no child has to grow in a refugee camp, away from the comfort and luxury of his home.
