Stanza 1:
Who should climb up into the cherry tree except me who is very small? I held the trunk with both my hands and looked far to see foreign lands.
Stanza 2:
I saw the garden the next door. It was adorned with flowers. I saw before my eyes many more pleasant places that I had never seen before.
Stanza 3:
I saw the river, which had dimples all over, flowing. It became the sky’s blue looking-glass. The dusty roads go up and down on which the people walk in to town.
Stanza 4:
If I could find a higher tree I would be able to see farther and farther where the big river empties into the sea in which there are many ships.
Stanza 5:
I would then be able to see where the road on both sides goes onward into some fairy land. There, in the fairy land, all the children eat early and all the playthings come alive.

സ്റ്റാൻസ് 4 : കുറച്ചുകൂടി പൊക്കമുള്ള ഒരു മരത്തിൽ കയറാൻ പറ്റിയെങ്കിൽ എനിക്ക് ഇനിയും ദൂരേക്ക് കാണാ മായിരുന്നു. അവിടെയാണ് വലിയ നദി കടലിലേക്ക് അതിന്റെ വെള്ളം ഒഴുക്കുന്നത്. കടലിൽ കപ്പലുകൾ ഉണ്ട്.
സ്റ്റാൻസ് 5 : വലിയ മരത്തിലാണെങ്കിൽ രണ്ടു സൈഡിലുമുള്ള ഏതോ മായാലോകത്തേക്കു പോകുന്ന റോഡുകൾ കാണാമായിരുന്നു. ആ മായാലോകത്ത് കുട്ടികൾ നേരത്തേ ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്കുകയും അവരുടെ കളി ക്കോപ്പുകൾക്ക് ജീവൻ വക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
