Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941) is often referred to as “Gurudev”. He was a man great learning. He was a poet, artist, musician and philosopher. His collection “Gitanjali” (Song Offerings) won him the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913. He was not only a literary genius but also a key figure in India’s fight for freedom. He composed the Indian national anthem “Jana Gana Mana” and also the Bangladesh national anthem “Amar Shonar Bangla”. His words celebrate the beauty of life, love and the human spirit.
